Rapunzel

Had fun playing with my granddaughter last night. Her current favorite movie is Rapunzel. I had a long orange shawl and we tied it up in her hair and so she was able to pretend she had Rapunzel hair. It was fun indulging her imagination!!

I do believe in fairies. One came to visit me this evening. Her name is Gabriella Fairy Princess of the night.

One month into the new year has almost passed. I have always been interested in photography but only recently have I done something about it. I have taken a couple of classes at the local scrapbook store from a retired high school photography teacher and he has given me the confidence to give myself permission to explore my camera. I have a DSLR that I was using as an expensive "point and shoot" camera. Now I have gotten brave enough to actually change the dials.

One of the fun things that I have learned is about painting with light. This is done at night and my props are flash lights. I have scoured my local Walmart, Walgreens, and Fry's stores for different sizes of lights including rope lights. These now grace my craft room. BUT...with these tools I have been able to create some pretty interesting stuff.

I really think I'm going to like my new hobby!

I love my garden. Today I had a visitor while I was watering my veggies. This dragonfly landed on the trellis and stayed long enough for me to run inside and get my camera. He was a shimmering copper color. I wish the camera could have captured the glimmer of his body. I felt that it was such a privilege to observe this little guy during his respite in my garden.

The journey of one's life begins with a single step.

I need to remind myself that by going one step at a time I am able to experience the world around me. I can appreciate each detail in life. There is no reason to rush though my journey. I know that sometimes I may have to choose a different path, but it opens the endless possibility of new adventures.

The Bumblebee

Dear Bumblebee
I watch you flit from
flower to flower
buzzing 'round me
moving here and there
collecting pollen
to help the rest of the
world outside my garden
bloom too.

Ah Spring

I love the Spring when the flowers start blooming. It's wrecking havoc on my sinuses, but I love this time of year. I've already taken my relaxing walks through the nurseries and home improvement stores plant departments in the area. I'm itching to plant my veggies, but I want to wait until after April 1. I'm going to try something different and plant in earth boxes. Ah Spring!!! I embrace thee............
